Explore some of Funchal's most notable highlights, including the Botanical Gardens, and enjoy a taste of local spirits. Your tour begins with a scenic walk through Funchal's local market, where you'll discover a colorful display of subtropical fruit, vegetables, flowers, and fish. Stop at a local wine lodge to enjoy a taste of Madeira's world famous wine, then tour the Botanical Garden, teeming with an array of exotic plants and flowers. Note: Guests must be able to walk approx 400 yards over even and cobblestone surfaces, slight inclines, and 40 - 50 steps.

This active tour has something for everyone. You'll visit the bustling town market, where vendors offer tastes of exotic fruits like philodendres and maracuja. Examine delicate, traditional embroidery at a local shop, then sample Madeira wines at a wine lodge. Stroll the around the village of Monte and visit its beautiful church. Then admire spectacular views on a mountain cable car ride to the stunning flower mosaics and rare plants of Madeira Botanical Gardens.

• Funchal: Sample exotic fruits, try fresh-made local delicacies, see fine examples of traditional Madeira embroidery, and visit a wine lodge.
• Monte: Explore the picturesque 500-year-old village and its beautiful church, then take the cable car down the mountain.

• Guests must be able to walk approximately 1200 feet over even and cobblestone surfaces, with slight inclines and 40 to 50 steps.
• Cable car slows down but does not completely stop for boarding.
• No exposed shoulders or knees in the church.
• Church may be closed during mass services on Sundays and holidays.
• If cathedral is closed, guides give commentary outside; guests then enter quietly on their own.
• Market is closed Saturday afternoons, Sundays, and public holidays.
• Visibility from scenic outlooks depends on weather.
• Guests must be of legal age to consume alcohol.
