As you pass through Naples, you will see Mt. Vesuvius from a distance. You are on your way to the ancient city of Pompeii, one of the most famous excavations in the world.
Once part of a thriving empire, in 79 AD the city was devastated by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Over 30 feet of volcanic ash and pumice stone covered Pompeii. When you arrive at the entrance of the city, your escort will offer some information regarding the main points of interest such as the Forum, the mansions and the art of wealthy patricians who moved to Pompeii to escape the turmoil of Rome. You will have the opportunity to see countless paintings and inscriptions, streets with raised pavements on both sides, and the stepping-stones that ensured pedestrians a safe crossing at intersections.

- You should take your SeaPass card (provided onboard the ship) and photo identification when in port.
- Camera and cash for shopping
- Sun protection and sunglasses

- Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
