Your panoramic tour of Cork takes you past all the important landmarks and sights that have contributed in creating its modern day identity and your experienced local guide will explain how the city has grown from humble beginnings into what you see today.

The journey from Cobh to Cork is a short 45-minute drive and traces the shores of Cork Harbor. On arrival in the city, you’ll drive down Merchants Quay, St Patrick’s Street, Grand Parade and South Mall, where your guide will explain the history behind the French Quarter, English Market, Father Matthew’s statue and Bishop Lucey Park.

Continue pass the impressive City Hall. Constructed from large limestone blocks, the City Hall was opened by President Eamon De Valera in 1936. The funds were provided by the British Government in reparation for the burning of the original city hall by English Crown Forces on December 20 – 21, 1920 during the Irish War of Independence. There is a photo stop (exterior view only) at the St. Finbarr’s Cathedral. The cathedral was designed in mini-Gothic style by William Burgess and built on the site of St. Finbarr's original settlement (606 AD).

Drive to the nearby town of Midleton for an introduction to Irish Whiskey at the Jameson Heritage Centre. The site of the Old Midleton Distillery originally began as a woolen mill in 1795, eventually becoming the Midleton Distillery for fine whiskey in 1825.  Your visit begins with an audiovisual presentation on the history and making of Irish whiskey. Small-scale production in the earlier years became part of the Irish way of life, but in the 17th century, the English introduced a licensing system and started to close down stills. In the 19th century, post famine poverty and the Temperance movement combined to lower demand. Your guided tour of the distillery itself will show you the various historical buildings that comprise the Heritage centre. Many of the artifacts of Old Midleton remain, along with wonderful displays, photographs and superbly restored machinery and dramatic recreations. During your visit at the Old Midleton Distillery, you will have time to browse in the gift shop. Today, Jameson Irish Whiskey's smooth, mellow taste is enjoyed in over 75 countries.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 500 yards over even surfaces with 20 - 30 steps. An elevator is available for guests who need assistance with the stairs. Time permitting; guests will have approximately 30 minutes for shopping and browsing while at the Heritage Centre. The drive time between Cobh and Cork is approximately 45 minutes and the return drive from Midleton is roughly 30 minutes, dependent upon traffic conditions.
