Follow along as Ireland’s daunting famine history is revealed on a guided tour of the Dunbrody ship and captivating museum exhibits that tell tales of the Great Famine, plus enjoy free time to explore the town of New Ross. Step back in time aboard the recreated Dunbrody, a cargo ship used to carry thousands of Irish emigrants fleeing the famine of 1845 in hopes of a new life in North America. Through themed exhibits and oral histories shared by costumed actors, you’ll relive what it was like for the millions of Irish citizens who crossed the Atlantic aboard this emigrant vessel. You’ll also see the Irish America Hall of Fame, which recognizes Irish men and women who have contributed significantly to U.S. history. After your tour, delight in an hour of free time to explore nearby New Ross’s town center, whether it’s shopping for souvenirs, savoring Irish cuisine or seeing the birthplace of President John F. Kennedy’s great grandfather. A picturesque coach drive through green Irish countryside leads you back to your ship.
