Havana's historical, cultural and artistic delights are on dazzling display with a full-day exploration that includes the Nelson Dominguez art gallery, Ernest Hemingway's Finca Vigia home, plus Cuban food and Colon Cemetery's famous graves. With eight hours at your disposal, you'll begin at the studio of Nelson Dominguez, an award-winning Cuban artist who works and lives in Havana. Sip a complimentary cocktail while perusing his captivating collection of Afro-Cuban paintings and etchings. Then head 10 miles out of town to San Francisco de Paula where you'll step inside Finca Vigia, former home of American novelist Ernest Hemingway. From 1939 until 1960 the celebrated author lived in this “lookout house”, writing recognized works including “For Whom the Bell Tolls” and “Old Man & the Sea”. Back in town you'll savor a meal of delectable Cuban dishes. Then finish up in the Vedado neighborhood among the elaborate memorials of Colon Cemetery. Dating back to 1876, this important Latin American burial ground is home to more than 500 mausoleums, chapels and vaults. With over 800,000 gravesites, this is where some of Cuba's most prominent politicians, filmmakers, writers, musicians and baseball players rest in peace.
