Voted Norway's greatest engineering feat of the 20th century, the Atlantic Road is a can't-miss marvel. Running from the island of Averoy to the Norwegian mainland, the 8.3-kilometre road is made up of eight bridges as well as causeways and viaducts touching many tiny islets in the Norwegian sea – but it's real attraction is the dramatic views of mountains, windswept sea and coastal landscapes.
The national tourist route Trollstigen, or Trolls' Path, takes you through steep mountain slopes and cascading waterfalls. Enjoy views nearby of mountains that carry lofty names like the King, the Queen and the Bishop.
