Family lounging in the living room in the Ultimate Family Suite

A lot has changed, but some things are still the same — when you vacation with Royal Caribbean, your health and safety remains our top priority. We’ve partnered with top medical minds and the Singapore Government to design our plan. Strengthened our onboard medical centers to make them even better prepared. Developed comprehensive prevention protocols for every part of the ship. And designed industry-leading response plans with the hope that we never have to use them. From reducing the number of guests onboard to no more than 50% occupancy and testing everyone before sailing, to cleanliness standards that rival the best hospitals, we promise we’ll never stop working to protect you and the ones you love.

Testing for all Onboard

Testing For All

Safe vacations start with prevention. Every guest and crew member will be required to test negative for SARS-CoV-2 (coronavirus) prior to boarding — and Royal Caribbean will cover the cost of your test for sailings departing on or before 30 January 2021. We’ll continue monitoring everyone’s health onboard with daily temperature checks, rapid testing capabilities, and complimentary in-stateroom medical evaluations whenever needed.

Your Questions Answered:

Fresh Filtered Air

100% Fresh, Filtered Air

There's nothing like the fresh air of the open ocean, wherever you are onboard. On Royal Caribbean® ships, our HVAC system continuously supplies 100% fresh, filtered air from outdoors to all indoor spaces. You can breathe easy knowing that, thanks to this robust system, the transmission of aerosol particles between spaces (like those from a cough) is extremely low to virtually impossible — as validated in an independent assessment conducted by the University of Nebraska Medical Center onboard a Royal Caribbean ship.

Your Questions Answered:

Cleaning Sanitation on Cruise

Medical Grade Cleaning Standards

Royal Caribbean takes great pride in keeping our ships sparkling clean. Now, with guidance from our Healthy Sail Panel, we’re going further than ever before. Our new sanitization protocols rival those at the best hospitals, using disinfectants and techniques approved by the local authorities, like electrostatic fogging to clean frequently and consistently. Plus we’ve reduced the need to touch surfaces wherever possible.

Your Questions Answered:

More Room for Family

Less Guests, More Space For Your Family

Everyone now knows the importance of physical distancing. We also know that on vacation you just want to relax. Royal Caribbean ships will sail with fewer guests onboard — no more than 50% of our usual capacity — giving you more distance from others, so you can focus on getting closer to those you care about. Around the ship you’ll find friendly reminders wherever face masks or extra spacing are required. We’ve also outfitted our crew with personal protective gear and reduced the need for contact in all possible interactions.

100% Fresh Filtered Air

Breathe easy with fresh ocean air, no matter where you are onboard. Every Royal Caribbean shipboard HVAC system continuously flows 100% fresh air from outdoors to your stateroom and public areas. Upgraded MERV 13 filters capture aerosols 0.3 to 1 micron in size — fine enough to filter coronavirus, colds and flu.

Medical Grade Cleaning Standards

Royal Caribbean® has always kept its ships sparkling clean. Now, with guidance from our Healthy Sail Panel, we’re going further than ever before to ensure your peace of mind. Our new protocols keep ships safe and sanitized from bow to stern — including your stateroom.

How We Are Sanitizing Your Stateroom
Your stateroom is your home away from home while you’re on vacation, and we’ve enhanced our cleaning protocols so you can unwind safely and stress-free in between adventures. Your stateroom will be sanitized every day while you are out, cleaning all high-touch surfaces with disinfectants and cleaning agents that have been certified by the local authorities. Air quality matters too — know that your room has a continuous flow of 100% fresh air from outside, even if you don't have a balcony or window.

Keeping Each Other Safe

Per local authorities' requirements, face masks will be worn onboard by crew members and guests to help keep everyone safer. Face masks are required in indoor and outdoor spaces, with some exceptions. In restaurants, cafes, bars or lounges, seated guests may eat and drink without masks. Masks should not be worn in situations where they could get wet, such as at the pool. Masks should not be worn during strenuous exercise, but are required for light workouts. You do not need to wear a mask in your stateroom or on your balcony. Any time you remove your mask, take care to maintain physical distance of at least 2 meters (6 feet) between your travel party and others.

Permitted types
Fabric face masks, minimum two layers with ear loops
Disposable surgical masks
Plastic face shield, only with a face mask

Less Guests, More Space

Royal Caribbean ships will sail at no more than 50% occupancy, giving you more distance from others so you can focus on getting closer to those you care about. We’ve added friendly spacing reminders anywhere a little extra guidance may be needed. And implemented safe spacing at restaurants, bars and lounges, shows, Casino Royale℠, and on the pool deck.

Pools & Deck
Craving some vitamin sea? We’ve spread out chairs, loungers and tables on open decks, giving you more room to unwind. We’ve also reduced capacity in our pools and hot tubs, so you can safely enjoy every day under the sun — piña colada optional.
