Halong Bay captivates from any angle, but the best ways to take in its natural beauty is from the sea or the air. Hop aboard a traditional junk boat and wind your way around the bay’s 1,600 islands. Or ride across the bay on the Queen Telpher cable car system, which holds two Guinness World Records.
Thirty-two species — including macaques, cuckoos, giant black squirrels and most of the world’s remaining 65 white-headed langurs — call Cát Bà National park home. Hike along one of the park’s many trails, or make your way to the summit of Ngu Lam peak for panoramic views of the park’s dense emerald jungle.
