Adventure Begins on Legend of the Seas

All-inclusive vacations offer one of the best values in travel, especially when booking a family getaway with younger kids and teenagers in tow. With ease of planning and the assurance that most everything is included, an all-inclusive family trip offers convenient, stress-free travel experiences for everyone, particularly if parents (or multigenerational families) decide to book their vacation on the high seas — and with Royal Caribbean.

The third revolutionary Icon Class Vessel and the newest Royal Caribbean ship, Legend of the SeasSM, offers not only one of the best all-inclusive family vacations onshore or at sea, but also an ultimate family vacation you won’t find anywhere else. On board the ship, families will find eight distinct neighborhoods, offering nonstop entertainment, dining, activities and fun for adults and children of all ages, along with memories to last a lifetime.

Endless Options for Dining, Entertainment, Thrills and Family Fun

Legend of the Seas features an unparalleled 28 ways to dine (13 are complimentary), with Royal Caribbean and Icon Class favorites, as well as several exciting new options. New offerings include a five-course dining experience at the ancient Silk Road-inspired Royal Railway℠ – Legend Station and the Hollywood Land Super Club, where you’ll enjoy a glitzy and immersive evening featuring Champagne and craft cocktails, gourmet bites and jazz music. AquaDome Market, the all-day globally inspired food hall (and family-friendly venue) exclusive to Icon Class ships, will feature five new dining stations, including a smoothie and juice bar.

Other family-friendly and kid favorites on board the ship include:

● Basecamp® (in the Thrill Island neighborhood), which features casual bites like hot dogs and smash burgers.
● The Surfside Eatery℠ (in the Surfside neighborhood), which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
● The always popular Sorrento’s Pizza.
● Fast-casual Mexican fare at El Loco Fresh®.

Legend of the Seas is the perfect vacation destination (especially in the sunny Caribbean), where you’ll want to enjoy many onboard outdoor amenities and activities. The ship boasts an impressive seven pools (one for every day of the week) and heart-pumping adventures for thrill seekers of all ages, including Crown’s Edge obstacle course (where you’ll securely dangle over the edge of the ship) and Adrenaline Peak℠, the towering rock climbing wall.

Legend of the Seas is also home to the largest waterpark at sea, Category 6, a series of hair-raising waterslides featuring thrilling zero-gravity drops and 360-degree tailspins. Meanwhile, younger kids will enjoy the redesigned Playscape℠ and dunk buckets and mini slides at Splashaway Bay℠ — and everyone in the family can get in on the fun with a game of mini golf at Lost Dunes — or try out their surfing skills at FlowRider®.

The new ship also lays claim to the largest ice arena on the high seas at Absolute Zero® and a gigantic 55-foot waterfall at the AquaTheater, where you’ll find one wow moment after another as synchronized swimmers, high divers and aerialists perform astonishing feats. For an evening of whimsy and fantasy with Willy Wonka, grab a golden ticket to see Roald Dahl’s hit Broadway musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Royal Theater. And when the parents want adults-only time on the ship to watch a late-night comedian, go dancing or enjoy a nightcap at one of the more than 20 bars and lounges, younger kids and teens can head to one of the supervised, age-appropriate kids clubs for the evening.

In addition to all the onboard dining, entertainment, thrills and endless family fun, a cruise offers a hassle-free way to visit multiple exciting ports of call in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. Legend of the Seas also stops at the Royal Caribbean private island in The Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

How to Plan the Best All-Inclusive Family Vacation

Once you’ve decided to take a family vacation on Legend of the Seas, you’ll need to plan when and where you want to cruise. Here’s what to consider:

When To Travel

Certain times of year, including holidays and summertime, can be busier and more expensive to travel than other times — and it depends on the destination. If you’re flexible with dates, you may be able to find better deals, especially if you book during Wave Season, which typically runs from January through March. In addition, look for deals that may include discounts and fares where the third and fourth guests sail for free.

How To Select Onboard Accommodations

If your older kids are traveling with you but not staying in the same accommodations, consider reserving connecting rooms so you know their comings and goings. Another excellent choice for young families is the Family Infinite Ocean View Balcony room, which sleeps up to six guests and features a separate hideaway bunk space with a television and a split bathroom — or the Surfside Family Suites, which accommodate two adults and two children.

For an over-the-top vacation experience, reserve the Ultimate Family Townhouse, a three-level space at the aft (back of the ship) with an in-suite slide, a private patio, a viewing cinema and many other amenities and perks.

What To Budget For

You’ll also need to budget for additional expenses not included in the cruise fare, such as specialty dining, beverage packages (or individual drinks like specialty coffees and teas, bottled water, sodas and alcoholic beverages), Wi-Fi, excursions and other extras (daily gratuities, spa treatments, souvenirs and personal items) on board the ship (and ashore).

How To Reserve

It’s best to reserve everything for your cruise, including specialty dining and beverage packages, Wi-Fi and excursions, before you set sail. In addition to possibly saving money, you won’t want to miss out on making reservations at a new venue you want to go to for dinner or popular shore excursions that sell out quickly. To make this process even easier, don’t forget to download the Royal Caribbean app before you set sail.

Start Your Family Adventure

An all-inclusive trip is one of the best options for a family or multigenerational vacation, offering ease of planning and packing — and a stress-free getaway where most everything is included in the price and everything you need is in one space.

For a vacation of a lifetime, Legend of the Seas features the ultimate family adventure with round-the-clock fun, top-notch entertainment, globally-inspired dining, adrenaline-pumping shows and activities — and time to just kick back, relax and just enjoy your family time at sea.

Choose the Caribbean or Mediterranean itinerary that’s right for your family, and then start planning and packing for your next cruise vacation!
