A cruise from Barcelona is one of the best ways to experience all the brightest jewels of the Mediterranean — but it’s also a great opportunity to spend some time discovering one of the coolest cultural hubs in western Europe. This lively seaside city checks all the boxes — history, culture, amazing food, a thriving art scene and so much more. When you visit Barcelona, you can start every day with a steamy cortado in a charming sidewalk café. After that, the options for adventure are endless. Swim with sharks at Aquarium de Barcelona, one of the largest aquariums in Europe. Check out ancient Roman relics at the Barcelona City History Museum, located in the vibrant Gothic Quarter. Make a reservation to see a sultry flamenco show. And when hunger hits, head to Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria, a pilgrimage site for foodies. It was a covered market back in the 1200s. Now it’s one of the top food markets in the world and a must-visit stop before your cruise out of Barcelona.

Limassol, Cyprus

Limassol's new marina sits between the old and new ports, and the entire area is ripe for exploration. Head up to the 14th century Kolossi Castle and museum on a journey that will take you through the historic heart of the city. Then wander over to the zoo or the impressive archaeological remains on Cyprus, that dates back to the Romans.
Travel Tips
1
Limassol has plenty of sandy and rocky beaches within easy reach, including the main beach: Akti Olympion.
2

Rhodes, Greece

National LanguageGreek
Currency AcceptedEUR
Cruises to Rhodes arrive on a Greek island that still delivers beauty and allure on a giant scale, long after the Colossus fell. The island instantly greets you with serene white-sand beaches and wide-open blue skies. See the site in the harbor where the now-destroyed wonder of the ancient world once stood. Then, head to Old Town Rhodes, surrounded by medieval walls and seven ancient gates. Don't miss the Palace of the Grandmaster, with its mosaic floors dating from Hellenic, Roman and early Christian times. For further adventures, make the drive to Phileremos Monastery or the scenic Lindos Bay. Shop for a colorful menagerie of seashells by the shoreline — and don't forget to spend some time relaxing beside the translucent blue waves with your Greece cruise.
Travel Tips
1
Don't be fooled by how small Rhodes looks on the map. Put fewer items on your itinerary rather than more to avoid missing your boat.
2
It might seem tempting to rent a car if you want to explore the outer reaches of Rhodes, but since driving and parking within the city are highly regulated, a taxi is a better bet.

Iraklion (Heraklion), Crete

National LanguageGreek
Currency AcceptedEUR
Go back in time at the Palace of Knossos, the adjacent Heraklion Archaeological Museum, or climb the Venetian Walls that surround the Old City. Take a dip in the azure Aegean at beaches like Amoudara and Karteros or follow up a shopping trip at Meidani Square with a shot of the local spirit known as raki.
Travel Tips
1
If you need a ride somewhere, using a ridesharing app rather than a taxi can help avoid language difficulties.
2
Crete looks small on the map, but traversing the island from east to west can take hours. Don't travel too far from Heraklion if you have limited time in the area.

Athens (Piraeus), Greece
