That’s why a cruise from New York City is a great option for anyone who loves to keep the thrills going strong — even before you set sail. Globally acclaimed theater productions, award-winning dining and iconic monuments are among the best of New York City’s attractions, but this vibrant metropolis also offers hidden gems and unexpected surprises around every street corner. Head to Central Park for a tranquil break from the city’s fast-paced bustle, or hit a jazz club and learn about the influence of Black musicians and artists in the historic neighborhood of Harlem. Ponta Delgada offers both history and natural wonders. See the famous Porta da Cidade, made from local volcanic stone, and walk along the 16th-century fortifications of Forte de Sao Bras. Looking for a more relaxing day, enjoy local Azorean wine and grilled linguica sausage in the city center.

Then take a Gaudí-inspired architecture crawl to see modernist wonders like Casa Milà, Casa Batlló, Park Güell and the awe-inspiring La Sagrada Família. Explore medieval dockyards at the Maritime Museum— or throw on an apron and learn the centuries-old art of Catalan cuisine in a chef-led cooking class.
The cruise might have ended, but there are still some great activities to enjoy in the area. If you flew into this port, be mindful of your departure flight time and plan accordingly.
