What items are prohibited onboard a Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship?

Prohibited Items: What can’t you bring onboard?

  • Illegal drugs and illegal substances
  • Weapons, firearms, ammunition, explosives, incendiaries (including replicas and gun parts) (*)
  • Explosives and fireworks
  • Flammable items or items with open flames and steamers
  • Knives, sharp objects, and scissors (exceptions are noted in the next section)
  • Tools (hardware tools, including screwdrivers longer than 7 inches)
  • Martial arts and self-defense items and sporting goods (exceptions are noted in the next section)
  • Disabling chemicals and other dangerous items
  • Electrical extension cords, power strips, and multi-plug outlets (exceptions are noted in the next section)
  • HAM radios and other transmitting devices (baby monitors not allowed under this policy)
  • Alcohol not allowed to bring onboard (exceptions are noted in the next section)
  • Cybersecurity and deliberate electronic crime equipment (included  satellite dishes, routers, and other networking equipment, any other deliberate electronic interference which would constitute criminal activity)
  • "Smart" glasses from any of several manufacturers that can record video and audio are not allowed to be used in certain areas onboard the ship, including, but not limited to, public restrooms, Youth Program areas, medical areas, as well as the casino
  • Guests who have "Smart" glasses that have prescription lenses are recommended to bring a backup pair that is not “smart” enabled    
  • Recreational vehicles (motorcycles, mopeds, ATVs, etc.)
     

Accepted Items: What can you bring? (subject to conditions)

  • Baby bottle cleaners, sanitizers, and warmers: handled case-by-case by the Access team (contact Special_needs@rccl.com if needed)
  • Hair appliances: hair irons, straighteners, and hair dryers are allowed
  • Small grooming items: nail files, cuticle tools, scissors for trimming facial hair with blades under 4 inches
  • Recreational diving knives: allowed if held in the safe custody of the Chief Security Officer and may be checked in/out for dive trips
  • Alaskan ulu knives legally purchased during Ports of Call: must be stored in cabin and not used in public areas
  • Sporting goods: must be stored in cabin and not used in public areas
  • USB chargers: if stamped with US/Europe recognized Conformance Marking
  • Two-way radios / walkie-talkies: allowed for onboard personal use (up to 10 miles, up to 5 watts, internal voice, no external antenna) 
  • Alcohol: allowed only per the Onboard Alcohol Guest Policy.
     

Additional Notes: What other things do you need to consider?

  • (*) Our company policy does not permit guests to carry firearms onboard nor helps secure or storage weapons for anyone on a vessel or pier
  • Wearing camouflage or military apparel is illegal in Barbados
  • Items not listed may still be prohibited if deemed questionable by Staff Captain or Chief Security Officer
  • Violations of this policy will result in confiscation of the item and may be a Guest Conduct Policy violation
