Discover all kinds of adrenaline-amping thrills and laid-back ways to chill onboard the original Oasis Class cruise ship.

Vacations are only as good as the activities and experiences they offer — whether that’s soaking up the sunshine poolside, chasing thrills, enjoying crave-worthy cuisine or living it up after dark with fabulous music, dancing and entertainment. Cruises are unique in that they offer all of these things and more — especially when you choose to sail on a ship like Oasis of the Seas.

The record-breaking ship that launched Royal Caribbean’s legendary Oasis Class offers onboard attractions and experiences for every age and preference. It’s clear from the moment you step aboard that the folks who designed this engineering marvel poured their imaginations into every aspect of the ship — from its kid-friendly play spaces and glow-in-the-dark laser tag course to its Royal Escape Room℠, AquaTheater shows, adrenaline-amping slides and global food scene.

One of things I love most about Oasis of the Seas is that it allows guests to fill every single moment with unique things to do both indoors and outdoors, morning, noon and night. This is convenient on days that are especially warm (or chilly, depending on where your itinerary takes you). And if you’re more about chill vibes, the ship offers plenty of areas to kick back and relax — like the adults-only Solarium, the Library & Card Room and Vitality Spa℠. With so many cool things to see and do onboard, knowing where to start can seem a bit overwhelming. So I’ve outlined ten of my favorite things to do onboard to help get your vacation-planning mojo flowing.

1. Tame Some Waves On The Flowrider®️ Surf Simulator

Everybody loves a classic, and the FlowRider* is one of my all-time favorite cruise attractions. It’s been nearly two decades since the surf simulator launched onboard Freedom of the Seas, and it’s still one of guests’ top-rated onboard activities. Where else can you learn to carve like a pro for free with the perfect swell guaranteed all day, every day? Whether you’re sailing past idyllic isles in the Mediterranean or island-hopping across the Caribbean, you can always catch flawless waves here. Just grab a board and try to keep your balance, or hit the water boogie-style and coast on your belly.

2. Conquer The Perfect Storm℠

If you’re a daredevil at heart, you probably always look for cruise ships with water slides when planning a getaway at sea. You’ll be pleased to know Oasis of the Seas is home to some of the best in the industry. They’re known collectively as The Perfect Storm — two twisting, turning mat racers called Typhoon℠ and Cyclone℠ and a bowl-shaped slide called Supercell℠ that whirls riders around and around before funneling them into a plunge pool far below. All of the water slides onboard the ship are free for cruise guests, so you can ride each of them over and over again to your heart’s content.

3. Take The Plunge Down The Tallest Slide At Sea

The thrills onboard Oasis of the Seas don’t stop with The Perfect Storm. This award-winning cruise ship is also home to the tallest slide at sea — Ultimate Abyss℠. Unlike the water slides onboard, Ultimate Abyss is a dry slide. You can take the plunge during the daytime or at night (my personal favorite time to ride, when the anglerfish that forms the entrance to the slide is all lit up). The ride itself spans a whopping ten stories and lasts about 13 seconds, though you can totally come back for seconds and thirds — guests enjoy unlimited rides as part of their cruise fare.

4. Soar Across Ten Decks During The Zip Line Ride Of Your Life

Not afraid of heights? Take on the ship’s iconic zip line. It stretches ten decks above the bustling Boardwalk®️ neighborhood. You don’t need a reservation to experience this free onboard attraction, and even kids can harness up and get in on the high-flying action. Here’s a pro tip: even if the thought of being so high up makes your stomach clench, the photo opportunity alone is worth summoning some courage. All you have to do is have someone stand at the finishing point with a camera held at the ready. Trust me — the shots of you gliding across the ship in your harness will be totally worth the pre-flight jitters.

5. Let Little Ones Play At Splashaway Bay℠ Or Adventure Ocean®️

For parents cruising with small children, one of the best things about Oasis of the Seas is that it offers so many activities for kids. Splashaway Bay is one of them. This fun-filled water park was designed with pint-sized cruisers in mind. It’s brimming with colorful waterslides, spontaneously spurting fountains, mini pools and whirlpools, and interactive water cannons just for tots and tweens. Parents can keep an eye on all the action while kids splash around and get soaked by the water park’s drench bucket.

The ship also offers Adventure Ocean, Royal Caribbean’s award-winning youth program. Totally free for cruise guests, it offers childcare services for guests aged 3-11. Kids are broken into groups based on their age, then treated to an entire day’s worth of supervised activities like arts and crafts, science experiments, theatrical plays and more.

6. Solve Your Way To A Successful Spacecraft Launch

If you need a break from all that sunshine on the top deck, head to the Royal Escape Room℠ on Deck 14. Onboard Oasis of the Seas, this beloved onboard attraction challenges players to get the Apollo 18 spacecraft to the moon by solving a series of mind-bending puzzles and head-scratching challenges. You’ll need to work together with your teammates and pool your critical-thinking skills if you hope to pull off this lunar expedition before time runs out.

7. Steal The Show At Spotlight℠ Karaoke

There’s nothing like some good, old-fashioned karaoke to liven up any night out. Whether you prefer to hit the stage and belt out a tune or cheer on performers from the audience, you can always count on a great time at this lively hangout on Deck Five. The venue’s impressive song bank offers thousands of popular tunes to choose from, and anyone can join the lineup for free. If you’re shy like me and prefer to perform for your friends and family only, you can request a private room for an additional fee.

8. Catch A Concert At Music Hall

Here’s another great option for music lovers. This huge, multi-level venue hosts a stellar lineup of performers every single night. Genres range from disco to classic rock to big band, and the vibe is always right. If your moves are a bit rusty, no worries — there are pool tables and plenty of comfy lounge seating where you can unwind while enjoying the beats and the atmosphere. Whether you come for the cover bands or the delicious cocktails, you’ll find this is one of the best spots onboard to live it up after dark.

9. Bring On The Laughs At The Ship’s Comedy Club

I love a great comedy club, and the one onboard Oasis of the Seas does not disappoint. With a rotating cast of comedians specializing in everything from sketch comedy to slapstick, this intimate onboard venue can rival some of the top clubs from Chicago to New York City. The best part? Admission is included in your cruise fare — you just have to be 18 or older, as the jokes are geared toward adults. Traveling with little ones? You can reserve after-hours childcare through the ship’s Adventure Ocean®️ youth program, then enjoy a night out with the grown-ups.

10. Settle In For A Blockbuster Flick On The Top Deck

When you’re craving a low-key evening, nothing beats a movie night — especially when you’re sailing on a ship like this. Oasis of the Seas hosts movie nights outside on its sprawling pool deck using a huge projector screen. You’ll want to make sure you pack a blanket so you can get cozy in a comfy chaise lounger while you enjoy the film, the cool sea breezes, and the twinkling stars above. You can check your Cruise Compass or the Cruise Planner app for a nightly lineup of films, which often range from old-school classics to modern hits.

If some of the onboard activities on this list piqued your interest, keep in mind that there’s plenty more to see and do onboard Oasis of the Seas. We didn’t even get into the cruise ship’s show-stopping entertainment, which encompasses impromptu parades, award-winning Broadway-style musicals, dazzling ice-skating shows and high-diving spectaculars at the AquaTheater.

The ship is also home to an incredible dining scene that spotlights flavors from Mexico to the Mediterranean and from Tuscany to Tokyo. And of course, there are plenty more family-friendly attractions waiting onboard, including a nine-hole mini golf course, a 40-foot rock-climbing wall, a classic arcade and a glow-in-the-dark laser tag course — just to name a handful.
