YOUR GUIDE TO CHILL VIBES ON PERFECT DAY AT COCOCAY

If you’re craving a day of laid-back lounging, this private island escape offers tons of ways to kick back.

Powder white sands, clear turquoise waters, endless blue skies and the sweet tropical kick of a refreshing Coco Loco — when it comes to hitting that internal reset button, the newly reimagined Royal Caribbean private island Perfect Day at CocoCay definitely delivers. Sure, there are plenty of thrills and exciting activities on the island to satisfy even the most energetic explorers. But if you just want to take it easy, there are also lots of ways to spend your day soaking up the sun and catching up on some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

CHILL VIBES ONLY AT CHILL ISLAND

Coupe relaxing in a beach cabana at Chill Island

Chill Island is known among visitors for its stretches of smooth sandy beach, calm Caribbean waters, and vibrant coral reefs that are perfect for snorkeling. To get there, just cross the harbor bridge once you arrive to the private island. Look for the painted signs that read ‘Chill Island.’ You’ll find there are plenty of complimentary chairs and umbrellas along the coast for you to use if you feel like taking a midday nap — be on the lookout for hammocks, as well. If you want a little more privacy, you can rent a daybed or your own Chill Island cabana, which comes with attendant service and stunning sea views. There’s a snorkel shack nearby where you can rent equipment to go snorkeling on your own or hop on a guided tour.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite from all that lounging, the nearby Chill Grill serves up tasty complimentary bites like BBQ, salads, sandwiches, tacos, burgers and plenty more just steps away from the beach — whatever you choose to indulge in, though, make sure to save room for some of the famous soft serve ice cream.

If you’re in the mood for a refreshing drink, you can pour yourself an ice-cold brew at the self-serve beer station at Chill Grill, or you can head to the nearby Wacky Seagull and Wacky Seagull Jr. bars for cocktails, beer and other adult beverages, including the island’s signature Coco Loco. And if you just can’t bring yourself to leave those cool, crystal clear waters, wade out to the fan-favorite Floating Bar, serving all your favorite island drinks and spirits right on the water.

LIVE THE LAGOON LIFE

Couple enjoying cocktails in the Lagoon Pool

Another great option for unwinding is Oasis Lagoon, the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean. This popular chill out spot is home to three swim-up islands with in-water tables and seating and several different coves — each with a unique vibe of its own. One of the coves has a sloping entry that’s perfect for families visiting with small children. Another offers an expansive and always-lively swim-up bar with 23 in-water seats and a team of talented bartenders trained to keep the Coco Loco’s coming strong. You can rent an Oasis Lagoon cabana if you want a bit of privacy, but there are also plenty of in-water loungers lining the perimeter of the pool if you want to work on your tan without getting out of the lagoon. The deepest part of the pool is less than five feet deep, so even little ones can have a blast while you get your chill on.

Just like Chill Island, Oasis Lagoon has some delicious dining close at hand for when the cravings kick in. Refuel with complimentary beach day favorites like hot dogs, crisp salads, fresh sandwiches and the famous signature Shack Burger at the nearby Snack Shack.

LOUNGE IN LUXURY

Opening January 31, 2020, the much-anticipated Coco Beach Club will serve as the go-to spot for visitors looking to turn their beach day into a luxury getaway. If you purchase admission to this exclusive tropical hideaway, you’ll get to enjoy a bevy of premium perks, like a sprawling infinity edge pool with in-water loungers overlooking the Caribbean Sea, occasional live music performers, inclusive amenities, and rejuvenating spa offerings which you can book on the island, on the ship, or ahead of your visit via Cruise Planner. There will be beachside cabanas and daybeds available for visitors to rent, but Coco Beach Club’s real treasure will be its floating cabanas — the first ever in The Bahamas and a must if you’re looking to have the bougiest beach day ever. A truly one-of-a-kind premium experience, each overwater cabana will feature its own slide into the ocean, an overwater hammock, a freshwater shower, and dedicated attendant service. Guests at Coco Beach Club will also get to savor elevated contemporary Mediterranean flavors at a sophisticated beachside restaurant — all included in the club’s entrance fee.

JUST WING IT AT CAPTAIN JACK'S

There’s no right or wrong way to let loose and relax. If Bora Bora vibes in a secluded overwater cabana are not your cup of Coco Loco, that’s okay — Perfect Day at CocoCay offers endless ways to chill no matter what version of ‘laid back’ you’re looking for. If your idea of max relaxing involves a livelier scene with Calypso rhythms, piña coladas, beautiful waterfront views and some casual comfort food — chicken wings and fries, specifically — Captain Jack’s might be your sweet spot. Located just steps from the pier, this fun harborside watering hole features live music, a full-service bar fashioned after a skiff, and a la carte wings and fries served with signature sauces like TLC (tequila, lime, and chipotle), parmesan and peppercorn, and sambal garlic aioli. What’s more, there are hanging rope swing sweats that are perfect for kicking back and taking in the harbor views.

Visiting with little ones in tow and just want to get away for some much-needed ‘me’ time? Splashaway Bay Aqua Park is an awesome place to let the kids get rid of all that pent-up energy so you can spend the rest of day recharging. It’s loaded with child-friendly thrills, including two drench buckets, five slides, fountains, sprinklers, geysers and more fun activities — and it’s completely complimentary. You’ll find it along the harbor near the entrance to the island between Captain Jack’s and Skipper’s Grill, so you can make it your first stop of the day before hitting Oasis Lagoon or Chill Island Cabanas.

Bet you didn’t know there could be so many ways to spend the day chilling out, huh? Whether you’re visiting with friends and want to unwind in a beachside cabana on Chill Island, trying to plan a tranquil couple’s getaway with seaside massages at Coco Beach Club, or looking to kick back and soak up the sun with the whole family at Oasis Lagoon, you’ve got your pick of options for a relaxing day on the island.
