The quintessential vacation in Europe, marked by historic landmarks and storied cities, is about to get bigger and bolder with the arrival of the soon-to-be-amplified Allure of the Seas.

One of the largest cruise ships in the world, Allure is ready for a major $165 million transformation that will introduce an adventure-packed lineup of new thrills, eats and nightlife. The reimagined Oasis Class ship will make her debut in May 2020 and sail from Barcelona all summer on seven-night cruises to the Western Mediterranean, visiting iconic destinations like Palma de Mallorca, Spain; Provence, France; Florence and Rome, Italy.

Curious about the adventure that awaits on board the award-winning ship? Read on to find out what’s in store.

Allure of the Seas will offer something for every age to discover, from a heart-pumping, 10-story ride down the Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea—which first appeared on Harmony of the Seas, followed by Symphony of the Seas—to relaxing on the reimagined pool deck in one of the “casitas,” daybeds, hammocks or swing seats overlooking the ocean. Kick back while sipping tropical cocktails and enjoying live music at the new signature poolside spot, The Lime & Coconut.

Flanking the pool deck is a thrilling trio of waterslides dubbed The Perfect Storm. Typhoon, Cyclone and Supercell guarantee a rush for both the young and young-at-heart, while Splashaway Bay’s twin drench buckets, waterslides, fountains and more are hits with our smallest guests.

If your crew is looking for adventures indoors, check out the new glow-in-the-dark laser tag experience Clash for the Crystal City or Royal Escape Room—Apollo 18: The Lunar Landing, requiring serious teamwork and problem-solving skills to complete this lunar expedition!

The youngest of wanderers, babies to kids 11 and under, will love our entirely redesigned Adventure Ocean: From climbable creations at Play Place, and hands-on art, science and tech projects at Workshop; to interactive games at Arena and spaces to call their own at Hangout, this award-winning program is poised for a major makeover. Also new are exclusive programs to engage all the senses at AO Babies (for babies and tots) and AO Junior (for 3- to 5-year-olds).

The teens exclusive hangout is also getting a 360-degree transformation. The maxed-out spaces will sport an exclusive lounge with gaming consoles, music, movies and spots to kick back and meet new pals, plus a new outdoor deck.

After a day at play, families can feast from a selection of must-visit eateries. First up, the new Giovanni’s Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, the familiar guest favorite will now serve a wide selection of wines and limoncellos alongside custom hand-tossed pizzas straight out of the in-house pizza oven and a variety of charcuterie and other Italian classics. Also making its way to Allure is Royal Caribbean’s first barbecue dining concept, Portside BBQ, featuring a menu of mouthwatering barbeque styles from across the U.S.; Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, serving up 80 big-screen TVs, arcade classics, tournaments, and bar fare with a twist—from wings served with a variety of sauces to steak fries drizzled with Caesar dressing; and El Loco Fresh, which offers insanely good Mexican street fare like tacos, burritos and all types of salsa. For a sweet treat, head to the new Sugar Beach for the cherry on top of a delicious night out.

While the kids take part in the late-night kids club at Adventure Ocean, parents can grab a drink at the Bionic Bar by Makr Shakr (manned by two robotic bartenders—really!) before heading to Music Hall, a Quantum Class favorite. Catch live cover bands with revolving set lists and lounge seating before stealing the show at Spotlight Karaoke—where family and friends can battle it out in a sing-along showdown on the main stage or opt for a private room—offering thousands of songs, or music trivia or themed nights.

In November 2020, the newly amplified Allure will then return to Miami to sail seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries—many of which include visits to Royal Caribbean’s new private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in The Bahamas.
